Why Does My TV Say "No Signal"?

Troubleshoot TV with No Signal

There are several issues that could be affecting your signal

The latest 'digital' TV transmitters emit a direct signal which the TV Antenna receives, so with digital if the signal received is weak or the Antenna is not receiving it efficiently the signal drops off suddenly, there is no fuzziness like the previous analogue signal. Therefore it is important to make sure your antenna system is well maintained to receive the signal effectively.

Depending on your geographical location, you will need a digital UHF Antenna to receive the signal from the transmitter on Waitpinga Hill or Normanville, or a VHF Antenna to receive the signal from Mount Lofty. The closer you are to the transmitter the stronger the signal, although now we need to take into consideration Mobile Phone Towers (4G particularly) as their signal uses a bandwidth very close to our TV signal in this area and can cause interference.

Are you losing signal "Sometimes" e.g. only certain channels?

The antenna system may be affected by the recently erected Mobile Phone Towers. We can install an effective filter for this.

The antenna system may not be "digital" and will need updating to accept the digital signal effectively.

The amplifier may not be shielded digital and not working effectively against the latest interferences which will need to be updated.

The antenna or parts of the system may be corroded by the seaside weather and will need replacing.

If you cannot get Channel 7 and the newest HD Channels your Television may not be a current High Definition (HD) TV, if this is the case you can purchase a HD Set-top box from a local electronics sales store, or purchase a new HD Smart TV.

          Have you completely lost signal?

Check that the amplifier or the powerpack may be faulty or turned off or removed.

Are all your cords plugged in firmly?

The cable or outlet may be damaged.

Is the antenna cable from the wall going into a recorder or TV box before it goes to your TV? To find out if that box if faulty unplug the antenna cable from the box and plug it directly into your TV (directly from the antenna wall outlet)

The TV Antenna or parts of the system may be damaged or corroded and will need replacing. Rust and corrosion stops conductivity of signal.

Is the local transmitter tower not working? To find out if there is an outage in your area check the ACMA website by visiting www.acma.gov.au/tv-reception-problems-and-fixes/

and scroll to the very bottom of that page for region-specific outages. Or visit the website of the Channel you are missing to find out any Channel-specific outages.

Wall Mount your TV?

Things to consider to Wall Mount your TV

Before getting your TV wall mounted, here are some points to consider:

Where do you want it to be on the wall?

Mounting a TV on the wall means holes will be cut into that wall for cable access, and for mounting the bracket, if it is a solid wall the use of duct may be an option.

What is the wall construction and is it an internal or external wall? for example brick-veneer, solid stone, steel framed, clad, downstairs or single storey?

Is there a powerpoint nearby on that wall?

Is there a TV outlet already on that wall?

Height of TV on the wall. Sit in the chair and imagine looking at the TV from that position, now consider window glare, seat positioning, viewing angles and accessibility to using other devices with it (cables will be run to the TV for connection). Consider floor viewing or standing or sitting.

What devices will need to be connected to the TV? for example DVD player, game console, USB access, Wifi/NBN access, amplifier/speakers. Now where will these devices also be situated in relation to the TV (cabinet below/to the side). It is preferred to have link cables to equipment hidden from view in the wall, and it can be almost impossible to access the outlets on the back of the TV once it is mounted.

When we first arrive to wall mount a TV we will be discussing all of the above with you to ascertain the best course of action to achieve your desired effect. You will need to have the TV on site for us. Please note, installation may not always be possible in your preferred location; have an alternative position in mind.

We always have two staff on site to securely lift the television, and we can also pick up your new TV from the local store, or we can meet the delivery at the site if you are unable to be there.

Not to be an alarmist, but, as a security company we have recently had to teach recently separated relationships, how to disconnect their modem and reset their CCTV passwords, Airconditioning Apps, Google playlist family members, email accounts, Netflix sharing accounts and many other externally accessed appliances/electrical devices, around the home as we have found the partner who has left the relationship/housing situation disgruntled and therefore seeking revenge any way they can to make the remaining person in that home feel as uncomfortable as possible by using the already gained passwords, by changing the settings on the devices they can and watching and listening to them on their own CCTV system.

This means the whole connected system to the cloud needs to be reset, rebooted sometimes, and passwords all reset so the occupier is the sole controller of those items.

Perpetrators using drones to stalk victims in new age of technology fuelled harassment - ABC News

“Currently, prosecutors have to be able to show the court it was actually the perpetrator who hit 'Enter' on a harassing message.

The same goes for drones. Prosecutors have to be able to prove the perpetrator was flying the drone at the time.

With Hikvision CCTV systems only 1 person is the main user of the CCTV system and that 1 person can share and disconnect that access to anyone they choose. If anyone tries to hack in to the system and take over it makes the whole system drop out until the original owner logs back in and takes over again. A trained and accredited Hikvision Technician can change and reset the password to change the system over to new owners, and can disconnect the previous users.

We have found that the downside of buying cheap brand CCTV systems also doesn’t have that type of security and anyone who scans the QR code on the top of the recorder or within the systems platform can get access – from anywhere. Those cheap Wifi cameras can be hacked into even easier without the user even being aware. Also if the cheaper system comes with a house and the previous owners don’t unlink their connection to it through their smart phones and other devices then that CCTV cannot be accessed by the new owners on the App (it only records onsite) unless the new owners obtain a Statutory Declaration which they then have to provide to the business brand (e.g. Swann) who are the only ones to change this, and they can be very hard to get hold of as they are primarily located in other countries.

Starlink Satellite internet is a good solution to NBN blackspot areas where either the NBN deem it too hard to get a fibre or cable to your property OR you are remote and cannot get the Fixed NBN signal. It is extremely faster than regular NBN and overcomes geographical restrictions.

Coast Communications Fleurieu have found the roof mounts supplied by Starlink cannot withstand high winds which are a common occurrence at most Southern Fleurieu Peninsula locations and have found the below Australian made satellite roof mount is the only one we will install for our customers to withstand these conditions.
